## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: A COMMERCIAL STUDENT WAS WITH HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR PREPARING FOR A MULTI-ENGINE CHECK RIDE IN THE LAKE MATTHEWS PRACTICE AREA. AT APPROXIMATELY 3,200 MSL, THEY BEGAN AN ACCELERATED STALL MANEUVER. WHILE ENTERING A BANK TO THE LEFT, AS THE ANGLE OF ATTACK AND AIRSPEED WAS DECREASING TO INDUCE A STALL, THE PILOTS HEARD A LOUD ?BANG? SOUND. THE STUDENT LEVELED THE WINGS TO VERIFY WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEY NOTICED THE RIGHT WING TIP HAD DETACHED FROM THE WING, AND THEY FELT A YOKE VIBRATION FROM THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY TO LAND AT CHINO AIRPORT. AFTER LANDING, THE PILOT VERIFIED THE YOKE VIBRATION WAS DUE TO DAMAGE TO THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR LANDED WITHOUT DIFFICULTY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
