## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2020 AT KPOU A CESSNA 172 N141AA WAS DOING TOUCH AND GO?S WITH A STUDENT AND INSTRUCTOR WHEN AT APPROXIMATE 8AM EST, ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF RUNWAY 6, HITTING A TAXIWAY LIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND 30 FEET OFF THE SOUTH SIDE OF RUNWAY 6. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY BEFORE ECHO TAXIWAY, CROSSED STRUCK A TAXIWAY LIGHT WITH ITS RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR AND CONTINUED ACROSS THE TAXIWAY, COMING TO A STOP IN THE GRASS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR NOTICEABLE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS AT THE CONTROLS PRACTICING HIS LANDINGS AND DURING THE TAKEOFF PHASE APPARENTLY STEPPED ON THE RIGHT RUDDER PEDAL AT ABOUT 45 KNOTS. THE INSTRUCTOR WAS NOT ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE AIRCRAFT FROM VEERING OFF THE HARD SURFACE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN REMOVED FROM THE GRASS AREA AND TOWED TO THE TERMINAL RAMP, WHERE IT WAS CLEANED/INSPECTED. THE FLIGHT SCHOOL FLEW IN A MECHANIC TO INSPECT THE AIRCRAFT AND THEN BOTH DEPARTED BACK TO THEIR AIRPORT.

FARMINGDALE, NY FSDO WILL CONTINUE WITH THIS INVESTIGATION

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
