## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT DURING HIS TAKEOFF ROLL HE ACCELERATED TO ALMOST ROTATION SPEED AND THEN HEARD A LOUD BANG. HE IMMEDIATELY RETARDED THE THROTTLE TO IDLE AND BROUGHT THE AIRPLANE TO A CONTROLLED STOP. THE AIRPLANE NEVER LEFT THE GROUND. THERE WAS SMOKE (OIL) IN THE COCKPIT SO THE PILOT SECURED AND EXITED THE AIRPLANE. IT WAS ONLY THEN DID HE REALIZE THAT THE PROPELLER HAD SEPARATED FROM THE ENGINE CRANKSHAFT FLANGE. INITIAL EVALUATION INDICATES THAT THE PROPELLER MOUNTING BOLTS FAILED RELEASING THE PROPELLER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
