## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT IN A CESSNA 172. APPROACHING TO LAND IN VFR CONDITIONS WITH MINIMAL WIND AT THE JOHNSTOWN AIRPORT, IN NEW YORK. STUDENT LET AIRCRAFT GET TOO SLOW JUST PRIOR TO LANDING, RESULTING IN RAPID SINK RATE. LANDED JUST SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO VERBALLY CORRECT THE STUDENT BY TELLING HIM TO INCREASE AIRSPEED AND LOWER PITCH BUT FAILED TO HELP PUT CORRECTION IN HIMSELF. RESULTED IN COLLAPSED NOSE GEAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
