## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ON AN INSTRUMENT FLIGHT PLAN FROM EWN TO OPF WITH 2 SOULS ABOARD, DURING CLIMB PHASE AT APPROXIMATELY 12,000?, APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES SW OF EWN, A BIRD STRUCK THE PILOTS SIDE FRONT FACING WINDSHIELD, SHATTERING THE OUTER GLASS. THE INNER GLASS WAS NOT DAMAGED AND THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN CABIN PRESSURE. PILOT SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT, SWITCHED TO RH SEAT, REVERSED COURSE, AND BEGAN A SLOW DESCENT INTO EWN. PILOT DID NOT DECLARE AN EMERGENCY, AND LANDED AT EWN WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
