## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 6:32 LOCAL TIME UNITED EXPRESS FLIGHT 4783, OPERATED BY TRANS STATES AIRLINES, DEPARTED SIOUX FALLS REGIONAL AIRPORT(FSD) RUNWAY 21 AND REPORTED HITTING BIRDS ON CLIMB-OUT. THE CREW FELT VIBRATIONS, ELECTED TO RETURN TO THE FIELD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 21. EMERGENCY VEHICLES WERE DISPATCHED, HOWEVER THE CREW REPORTED A NORMAL LANDING AND TAXI TO THE GATE. POST FLIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE TO THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE INCLUDING VISIBLE BENT FAN BLADES. TRANS STATES MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL REMOVED AND REPLACED THE DAMAGED ENGINE AND RETURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
