## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO A LOOSE CONNECTION ON THE GENERATOR WHILE IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT NEW SMYRNA BEACH MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, FLORIDA (KEVB). HE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON RUNWAY 29, PULLED OFF TO THE RIGHT (NORTH) SIDE OF RUNWAY 29 AT THE INTERSECTION OF TAXIWAY DELTA(D) AND STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT THEN RETRIEVED A HAND HELD RADIO TO RE-ESTABLISH COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER (ATC). UPON RE-ESTABLISHING COMMUNICATIONS, ATC INSTRUCTED THE PILOT TO TAXI BACK EAST ON RUNWAY 29 AND CONTINUE TO HIS HANGAR AREA. TO FACILITATE THE TAXI BACK, THE PILOT STARTED A 180 DEGREE TURN TO THE LEFT THEN HIT A TAXI SIGN THAT WAS NOT IN VIEW, WITH THE RIGHT WING TIP AND KNOCKED THE SIGN OFF ITS' MOUNTS. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
