## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) WAS ON A FLIGHT FROM GRAND ISLAND, NE (GRI) TO JASPER COUNTY AIRPORT, IN (RZL) AFTER PURCHASING THE AIRCRAFT. WHEN THE PIC BEGAN THE DESCENT INTO RZL, HE REDUCED POWER AND STATED THE THROTTLE WAS STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO MOVE. DURING THIS TIME, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE PILOT ELECTED TO MAKE AN OFF-FIELD LANDING IN A FIELD 2 NM TO THE SOUTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT.

ON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, UPPER ENGINE COWLING AND NOSE LANDING GEAR. THE GEAR WAS COLLAPSED IN THE MUD BUT ATTACHED TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
