## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2020 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS THE PILOT IN COMMAND(PIC) ON AIRCRAFT N246JB. ON APPROACH TO RWY 23 AT KBCT HE BECAME DISTRACTED BY EXPLAINING A LOT OF THINGS TO A PASSENGER WHO WAS WITH HIM ON HIS FIRST FLIGHT IN A GENERAL AVIATION (GA)AIRCRAFT. AS A RESULT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NEGLECTED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. THE AUTOMATIC GEAR EXTENDER WAS IN THE DISABLED POSITION. AS HE SETTLED INTO GROUND EFFECT AND ATTEMPTED TO FLARE, SOMETHING FELT OFF. IT TOOK HIM A MOMENT TO REALIZE THAT IT WAS THE LANDING GEAR. HE THEN ADVANCED THE THROTTLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE PROPELLER TIPS STRUCK THE RUNWAY. AS POWER CAME BACK UP, HE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE ENGINE WAS MAKING POWER AND THAT THERE WERE NO ABNORMAL SOUNDS OR VIBRATIONS. HEARING NONE, HE CONTINUED THE GO AROUND AND CONTINUED CLIMBING AND MADE A LEFT TRAFFIC PATTERN TO LAND AGAIN ON RWY 23. HE LOWERED THE GEAR AND EXECUTED AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
