THE AIRCRAFT TURNED SOUTH TOWARDS THE AIRPORT MANEUVERING AS IT WAS GOING TO LAND. THE AIRCRAFT THEN MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN AND DESCENDED BELOW THE TREE LINE AS IF IT WAS GOING TO LAND. THEN HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST NOSE DOWN APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET EAST OF THE THRESHOLD OF RUNWAY 31. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED BY A STUDENT PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA118](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA118), Apr 6, 2020: Kolb Firestar 2 (N90KL), La Center, WA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: A loss of control for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
