THE WRECKAGE WAS IN TWO MAIN AREAS WITH THE FUSELAGE/TAIL SITTING ON ITS BELLY, WINGS TORN OFF, FACING IN A GENERAL SOUTHERLY DIRECTION. THE ENGINE WAS DISLODGED AND TORQUED OVER WITH ALL FOUR PROP BLADES BROKEN OFF APPROX 12 INCHES FROM THE HUB. NONE EXHIBITED SIGNS OF ENGINE POWER.

THE CABIN DOOR WAS OPEN AND THE INTERIOR BLASTED WITH MUD. EVIDENCE IT CAME OPEN DURING THE GROUND IMPACT SEQUENCE.

THE WINGS WERE BOTH CO-LOCATED APPROX 50 FEET FROM THE FUSELAGE AND WERE PARTIALLY CONSUMED BY POST CRASH FIRE. ONE MAIN GEAR LEG WAS FOUND A FEW YARDS AWAY FROM THE WINGS. THE INITIAL IMPACT POINT WAS NOT ACCESSIBLE DUE TO FALLING DAYLIGHT AND EXTREME MUD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA159](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA159), Apr 23, 2020: Pilatus PC12 (N477SS), Mesquite, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to a mis-rigged beta control cable (propeller reversing cable), which resulted in a loss of thrust inflight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
