## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PLANE (1945 TAYLORCRAFT) WAS FLYING ABOUT 10 MILE W/NW OF ALW. THE PILOT CONDUCTED A LOW PASS OVER A FIELD, PARALLEL TO A ROAD, ABOUT 500-750 FEET AWAY FROM THE ROAD, ON A WESTERLY HEADING. THE PILOT OBSERVED A POWER LINE THAT WAS PARALLEL TO THE ROAD. THE PILOT FLEW PARALLEL TO THE ROAD/POWERLINE ABOUT 500 FEET AWAY AND 50-75 FEET ABOVE THE OBSERVED POWERLINE. THE PILOT/PASSENGER DID NOT SEE THE LINE THAT WAS PERPENDICULAR TO THE FLIGHT UNTIL THE PLANE STRUCK THE LINE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE. THE PILOT WAS INJURED (CUTS TO HEAD) WHEN THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND SHATTERED. THE PLANE REMAINED CONTROLLABLE SO THE PILOT CONDUCTED A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING ON A FIELD ABOUT ¼ MILE PAST THE WIRE STRIKE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
