## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN WAS ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM BOUNTIFUL, UT TO MANTI, UT. ON HIS RETURN LEG TO BOUNTIFUL AT ABOUT 9,000 FT. MSL. THE AIRMAN STARTED TO FEEL SICK WITH STOMACH ACHE, PRESSURE IN HIS CHEST, NAUSEA AND WEAKNESS. THE AIRMAN OPENED THE COCKPIT WINDOW AND DECIDED TO TURN MANTI. THE AIRMAN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY ON 121.5 THAT WAS RELAYED TO ATC VIA AIRLINER. HE STARTED DESCENDING AND AS HE DID THAT HE WAS COMING IN AND OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS. HE DECIDED TO PUT THE PLANE IN A FIELD TO STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE AND PROPERTY AND SUCCESSFULLY LANDED IN A FIELD.

WANTING TO SEE IF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING WAS A POSSIBILITY AN INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT'S EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS PERFORMED. THE INSPECTION REVEALED A LEAK NEAR THE HEATER SHROUD. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THE LEAK WAS OCCURRING BEFORE THIS EVENT OR AS A RESULT OF THE OFF-FIELD LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
