## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 31, 2020 AT 1757 PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME, AN EXPERIMENTAL CUB CRAFTERS CCK-, N303KP, WAS RECORDER ON CELLPHONE VIDEO FLYING LOW AND SLOW OVER A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE AIRCRAFT FLEW IN A LEFT HAND CIRCLE OVER A HOUSE FOR A PLANNED BIRTHDAY FLYOVER. AS THE AIRCRAFT COMPLETED 360 DEGREES OF A CIRCLING LEFT TURN, THE NOSE PITCHED UP, FOLLOWED BY A LEFT ROLL AND A VERTICAL DIVE TOWARDS THE GROUND. THE PILOT DIED AT THE SCENE AND A 12 YEAR OLD PASSENGER IN THE REAR SEAT SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA157](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA157), Jun 1, 2020: Cub Crafters CCK-1865 (N303KP), Valley Center, CA, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's exceedance of the airplane's critical angle of attack while maneuvering at low altitude, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and subsequent loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
