## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 30, 2020, THE PILOT WAS FLYING AT 17,500 MSL ENROUTE FROM MONTGOMERY FIELD (KMYF) TO EVANSTON WYOMING (KEVW) WHEN HE DIVERTED TO HEBER UTAH (KHCR) DUE TO EXCESSIVE CROSSWINDS AT HIS ORIGINAL KEVW. UPON DESCENT, HE RICHEN THE FUEL MIXTURE AND THEN LEANED IT FOR LANDING AT THE HIGH ALTITUDE AIRPORT. THE PILOT TURNED THE FUEL PUMP ON TO SWITCH FUEL TANKS TO THE FULLEST TANK FOR LANDING, AND FAILED TO TURN IT OFF. ON FINAL, THE PILOT NEGLECTED TO TURN OFF THE FUEL PUMP AS DIRECTED BY THE CHECKLIST. WHEN HE SET THE FUEL MIXTURE TO FULL RICH FOR LANDING, HE FLOODED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS UNABLE TO PRODUCE SUFFICIENT POWER TO MAKE IT TO THE RUNWAY. ON LANDING, THE PILOT STRUCK A POLE ON THE AIRPORT PROPERTY CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
