## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 6/4/2020, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TAKEOFF FROM A DIRT RUNWAY. THE PILOT STARTED THE TAKEOFF ROLL AND THE TAIL STARTED TO LIFT OFF THE GROUND WHEN THE PILOT FELT THE LEFT BREAK LOCK UP. THE PILOT CORRECTED WITH FULL RIGHT RUDDER AND IT STRAIGHTENED OUT FOR A SECOND. THEN THE PILOT SAID THE BREAK LOCKED UP AGAIN, THIS TIME HE WAS GOING ABOUT 50MPH. HE SAID IT WAS GOING TO PULL HIM OFF THE RUNWAY SO HE PULLED BACK ON THE STICK. THE PILOT SAID HE DIDN?T HAVE ENOUGH AIRSPEED TO GET THE AIRCRAFT FLYING. HE WENT OFF THE EAST SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND THE PLANE FLIPPED IN THE RICE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA175](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA175), Jun 4, 2020: Grumman G164 (N8486K), Lincoln, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control on takeoff for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
