THE ENGINE FAILED TO RESTART SO THE PILOT SWITCHED THE FUEL SELECTOR BACK TO THE RIGHT TANK. PILOT LANDED N5431U IN AN OPEN FIELD. DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE FAILURE THE RIGHT TANK WAS READING 1/8TH OF A TANK. FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT THE A&P STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC FUEL BOOST PUMP HAD FAILED. 17 GALLONS OF FUEL WAS DRAINED FROM THE LEFT TANK, THE RIGHT TANK WAS EMPTY.
