## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ROTATED TAILWHEEL SIDEWAYS, SET THROTTLE, AND HAND PROPPED PROPELLER FROM BEHIND, WHILE HOLDING ON TO RIGHT SIDE OF CANOPY. WHEN ENGINE STARTED, THE AIRCRAFT PULLED FORWARD, WITH RIGHT LANDING GEAR TRIPPING THE PILOT. AIRCRAFT TRANSVERSED FIELD OF STUBBLE UNTIL HITTING UTILITY POLE WITH WINGS, WHERE ENGINE WAS SHUTDOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20CA233](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20CA233), Jun 17, 2020: Piper J3C-65 (N25702), Mount Victory, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate planning, and his failure to secure the airplane prior to hand-starting the engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
