## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INVESTIGATION: ON THE THIRD APPROACH AND LANDING (TOUCH AND GO), THE TOUCHDOWN WAS NORMAL. THE PILOT APPLIED FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE STICK TO PUT MORE WEIGHT ON THE WHEELS AND DECREASE LIFT. AS THE TAIL WAS COMING DOWN, THE TAIL BEGAN TO VEER LEFT. THE PILOT APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER AND AILERONS BUT NOT SUFFICIENT TO STOP THE GROUND LOOP. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE PREPARED SURFACE AND THE WINGTIP TOUCHED THE GRASS OFF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT CONTINUED TO TAXI BACK TO PARKING UNEVENTFULLY.

ROOT CAUSE: LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN MAKE AND MODEL AND SKILLS TO OVERCOME THE EFFECT OF THE GUSTY WINDS.

CORRECTIVE ACTION: ACQUIRE MORE TAILWHEEL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE THROUGH DUAL INSTRUCTION AND CONTINUED EDUCATION.

COMMENTS: I USED COUNSELING AND RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL TRAINING TO REGAIN SAFE OPERATIONS. I AM SATISFIED THE AIRMAN'S CORRECTIVE ACTIONS FULLY ADDRESS THE CAUSES AND HAVE REESTABLISHED SAFE OPERATIONS. I RECOMMEND NO FURTHER ACTION.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
