## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 23, 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 1150 A.M. EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, A 1982 BEECHCRAFT C24R SIERRA, N1826A, SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGED AFTER IT MADE AN EMERGENCY GEAR UP LANDING AT THE BRUNSWICK GOLDEN ISLES AIRPORT (BQK) LOCATED IN BRUNSWICK, GEORGIA. THERE WAS ONE PERSON ON BOARD WITH NO INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED, AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THIS WAS A PERSONAL FLIGHT BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91.

THE (PIC) PILOT IN COMMAND STATED THAT HE HAD DEPARTED THE MCKINNON ST. SIMONS ISLAND AIRPORT (SSI) AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 A.M AND WAS PERFORMING PROFICIENCY TRAINING BY PRACTICING TAKE OFFS AND LANDINGS. ON HIS FIRST ATTEMPT TO LAND HE NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE WITH THE GEAR EXTENDED. THE PIC IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO TROUBLESHOOT THE SYSTEM BY CYCLING THE GEAR THROUGH SEVERAL TIMES AND CHECKING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BULB. THE BULB TEST GOOD BUT THE CYCLING OF THE GEAR STILL WOULD NOT GIVE A DOWN AND LOCK INDICATION. NEXT, THE PIC RADIOED SSI TO HAVE SOMEONE PERFORM A VISUAL CONFIRMATION OF THE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS OBSERVATION REVEALED THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT FULLY EXTENDED AND APPEARED TO BE CAUGHT UP IN THE WHEEL WELL. AT THIS TIME THE DECISION WAS MADE TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT TO BQK TO PERFORM A BELLY UP LANDING DUE TO THE LACK OF AIR TRAFFIC AT THAT AIRPORT. ONCE IN THE PATTERN AT BQK, THE PIC DECIDED TO LAND ON A GRASSY AREA NEAR THE MAIN RUNWAY TO HOPEFULLY AVOID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE LANDING WAS SUCCESSFUL AND ONLY RESULTED IN MINOR DAMAGE WITH NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
