## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS WESTBOUND SOUTH OF RATHDRUM, ID AT A LOW ALTITUDE. WHILE JUST NORTH OF WYOMING AVENUE AND CROSSING OVER STATE HIGHWAY 41 IT LOST ALTITUDE RAPIDLY AND LANDED HARD IN A FIELD WEST OF THE HIGHWAY. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND TURNED 180 DEGREES TO ITS DIRECTION OF FLIGHT. A POST-CRASH FIRE ENSUED AND DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT BUT SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT BURNS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA191](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA191), Jun 24, 2020: Enstrom 280 (N280MM), Hayden, ID, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The total loss of power while maneuvering at low altitude due to the detonation of two engine cylinders and damaged spark plugs.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
