## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER ACCOMPLISHING A PREVIOUS PASS TO OBSERVE CONDITIONS, PILOT MADE A SECOND APPROACH TO RUNWAY 08. PILOT OBSERVED MORE TURBULENCE THAN ON PREVIOUS PASS, AND IT INCREASED DURING FLARE. TOUCHDOWN WAS ON CENTER LINE, BUT BOUNCED. WHEN AIRCRAFT SETTLED DOWN, IT PULLED TO THE LEFT. PILOT APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER AND EVENTUALLY RIGHT BRAKE BUT WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE SWERVE. LEFT LANDING GEAR WAS SHEARED OFF IN THE DITCH ADJACENT TO RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA20CA233](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA20CA233), Jun 29, 2020: Vans RV 8 (N408RV), Perkasie, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control while landing in gusting crosswind conditions, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
