## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

JULY 1, 2020 - A TITAN TORNADO (N5082N) DEPARTED FROM A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP IN LECOMPTE, LA ON A LOCAL AREA FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER WHILE FLYING IN FIFTH WARD, LA AND ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AND CRASHED IN A CORN FIELD AT 1918 LOCAL TIME. THERE WERE 2 POB WITH INJURIES; 1 SERIOUS (PILOT) AND 1 MINOR (PASSENGER). BOTH PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. THE DAMAGE TO THE EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA265](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA265), Jul 2, 2020: Titan Titan Tornado (N5082N), Marksville, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s failure to ensure sufficient fuel onboard, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion, which resulted in impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
