## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DEPARTURE FROM AIRPORT RAMP, HELICOPTER BEGAN DEPARTURE CLIMB OVER GRASS AREA NEXT TO NEW TAXI WAY. THE NEW TAXI WAY WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND GROUND WAS BULLDOZED THE LENGTH OF THE RUNWAY. SILT FENCING WAS INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR THE LENGTH OF THE TAXI WAY. WHEN HELICOPTER PASSED OVER THE SILT FENCING, AT ABOUT 15 FEET ALTITUDE, THE FENCING WAS BLOWN INTO THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES. PILOT FELT A SEVERE VIBRATION AND LANDED HELICOPTER STRAIGHT AHEAD ON THE NEWLY EXCAVATED GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA264), Jul 4, 2020: Mbb BK117 (N263MH), Wooster, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The entanglement of construction fencing into the main rotor system, which necessitated a forced landing that resulted in substantial damage to the helicopter.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
