## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UNCERTIFICATED PILOT APPROACHED RUNWAY 02 AT VAUGHAN RANCH AIRFIELD. UPON REACHING THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE OF RUNWAY 02, THE PILOT INITIATED A BALKED LANDING PROCEDURE (GO-AROUND). DURING THE GO-ARROUND PROCEDURE THE PILOT DID NOT HAVE ADEQUATE TIME, DISTANCE, POWER, AND AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE, AND CONTACTED THE TALL TREES JUST NORTH OF THE AIRFIELD PROPERTY. WITNESSES REPORT THAT JUST BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE TOPS OF THE OVER 100' TALL TREES, THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A STEEP LEFT BANK, FOLLOWED BY CONTACT WITH THE TREES, AND THEN A STEEP PITCH DOWN, IMPACTING THE LOCAL TERRAIN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA215](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA215), Jul 8, 2020: Cessna 150 (N22393), Port Orchard, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's delayed decision to go around from an unstable approach, which resulted in insufficient airplane performance to climb above rising terrain and a subsequent aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
