## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 27

AT THE RAMONA AIRPORT, THE PILOT HAD DIFFICULTY PROPERLY LINING UP THE WEIGHT-SHIFT CONTROLLED AIRCRAFT DUE TO A CROSSWIND COMPONENT AND SOME TURBULENT AIR. THE PILOT INITIALLY TOUCHED THE AIRCRAFT DOWN BUT LIFTED OFF AGAIN DUE TO NOT BEING PROPERLY ALIGNED WITH THE RUNWAY HEADING. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT AGAIN BUT ROLLED THE AIRCRAFT ONTO ITS RIGHT SIDE DUE TO IMPROPER ALIGNMENT OF

THE LANDING GEAR WITH THE DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT

SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING, FRONT NOSEWHEEL OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND TO THE PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20CA255](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20CA255), Jul 9, 2020: Air Creation/Sides Rick A Manta 503 (N980WC), Ramona, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The solo student pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in a bounced landing and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
