## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT WHILE LANDING WITH A 90 DEGREE CROSS WIND @ 10KTS, GUSTING TO 15KTS, HE LANDED AND STARTED DRIFTING LEFT. HE SEEN A HOLE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY MARKED WITH A STAKE & FLAG. AS HE APPROACHED THE HOLE, HE APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER & BRAKE FOR CORRECTION CAUSING A RIGHT YAWING EFFECT. HE STATED THAT HE MISSED THE STAKE, BUT THE LMLG HIT THE HOLE WHILE IN A RIGHT YAW CAUSING THE LMLG TIRE & WHEEL TO DEPART THE LANDING GEAR LEG. THE A/C SKIDDED DOWN THE RUNWAY ON THE LEFT GEAR LEG APPROX. 6 OR 7 FEET BEFORE IT TOO DEPARTED THE A/C, AT WHICH TIME THE A/C PROPELLER AND LEFT WING STRUCK THE GROUND. THE A/C SKIDDED AND SPUN AND CAME TO A STOP 180 DEGREES FROM THE DIRECTION OF LANDING. A/C POWER WAS TURNED OFF AND ALL OCCUPANTS SAFELY EXITED THE A/C. NO FIRE ENSUED

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC20CA071](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC20CA071), Jul 14, 2020: Cessna A185 (N360DC), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control during landing, which resulted in a ground loop and left main landing gear collapse.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
