## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON TUESDAY, JULY 14, 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 0730 EDT, A WACO AIRCRAFT COMPANY YKC AIRCRAFT, REGISTRATION N-NUMBER N14139, WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A FENCE AT THE END OF RUNWAY 28 AT THE ANDY BARNHART MEMORIAL AIRPORT (3OH0), IN NEW CARLISLE, OHIO. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE ANDY BARNHART MEMORIAL AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 0700 EDT. THE AIRCRAFT OVERSHOT THE RUNWAY AND IMPACTED A FENCE.

THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A PRIVATE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, STATED THAT HE HAD COMPLETED TWO UNEVENTFUL LANDINGS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. TWO GO-AROUNDS WERE ACCOMPLISHED PRIOR TO THE FINAL APPROACH. HE STATED THAT HE WAS A LITTLE HIGH ON THE APPROACH, SLIGHTLY FAST ON THE APPROACH, AND LANDED BETWEEN A THIRD OF THE WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY AND MIDFIELD. THE GRASS RUNWAY SURFACE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WAS WET WITH DEW. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD LIMITED BRAKING ACTION AND STARTED SLIDING ON THE SURFACE WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPSIDE-DOWN ON THE FENCE AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IS CONSIDERED TO HAVE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

FAA AIRWORTHINESS AND OPERATIONS INSPECTORS CONDUCTED A CONTINUITY TEST ON ALL CONTROL SURFACES AND NO ABNORMALITIES WERE NOTED. THERE WAS NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND NO SIGN OF BRAKES SEIZURE. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF MECHANICAL FAILURE LEADING TO THE ACCIDENT. WHEN ASKED, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD FULL OPERATION OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS AND BRAKES.

THE WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE (FFO), WHICH IS 6.3NM SOUTH OF 3OH0, WEATHER OBSERVATION REPORTED THE WEATHER AT 0756 EDT TO BE 10 STATUTE MILES OF VISIBILITY, SCATTERED CLOUDS AT 5,500 FEET AGL, TEMPERATURE OF 19 DEGREES CELSIUS, AND WINDS OUT OF THE NORTHEAST AT 3 KNOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
