## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC WAS LANDING AT A NON-CHARTERED PRIVATE GRASS STRIP THAT WAS VERY WET FROM THE RAIN THE NIGHT BEFORE. THE PIC STATED THAT HE TOUCHED DOWNED IN THE CENTER OF THE STRIP AND AFTER TOUCH DOWN THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO DRIFT/SLIDE TO THE LEFT. THE PIC REPORTED THAT HE COULD NOT STOP THE SLIDE AND THE LEFT WING TIP STARTED TO IMPACT THE STANDING CORN WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO GO FURTHER LEFT WHICH RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT WENT THROUGH A DRAINAGE DITCH. THIS CAUSED THE SEPARATION OF THE LANDING GEAR FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT ENDED UP APPROXIMATELY 120 DEGREES FROM THE ORIGINAL HEADING IT WAS ON IN THE STANDING CORN FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA20CA253](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA20CA253), Jul 15, 2020: Air Tractor AT502 (N2038Q), Washington, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional during landing on a wet grass runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
