## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DESCRIPTION:

ON JULY 24, 2020, A 2016 EXPERIMENTAL SEAREY AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE PRECISION APPROACH PATH INDICATOR LIGHTS LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 12 AT THE ANDERSON, INDIANA AIRPORT (KAID), THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR ON THE AIRCRAFT.

CASUAL/CONTRIBUTING FACTOR:

THE PILOT STATES THAT HE IS A LOW TIME PILOT AND JUST RECENTLY RECEIVED HIS TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT. HE ADMITS THAT HE MISMANAGED THE CONTROLS BY NOT USING THE PROPER CROSSWIND PROCEDURES AND NOT ENOUGH RIGHT RUDDER AS HE INCREASED POWER FOR THE TAKEOFF.

RECOMMENDATION TO REDUCE RISK:

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE PILOT CONTINUE HIS TRAINING WITH EMPHASIS ON CROSSWINDS AND TAILWHEEL OPERATIONS.

ACTION TAKEN TO CORRECT PROBLEM:

THE PILOT HAS STARTING THE ADDITIONAL TRAINING WITH HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR.

COMMENTS:

COMPLIANCE PROGRAM

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
