## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FALCON FIELD WITH NORMAL ENGINE OPERATING PARAMETERS. APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES NORTH OF THE FIELD DURING DEPARTURE THE PILOT NOTED THE OIL TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO CLIMB. AFTER MONITORING THE TEMP FOR A FEW MINUTES THE PILOT ELECTED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT BECAUSE INDICATOR FOR OIL TEMP HAD CLIMBED INTO THE RED. THE PILOT NOTED THAT THE ENGINE TEMP HAD CLIMBED INTO THE RED ZONE AND STAYED THERE WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN THE PATTERN AND DURING LANDING. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDING WAS NORMAL WITH NO NEW ENGINE ISSUES. THE OIL PRESSURE AND ENGINE PERFORMANCE DID NOT SEEM TO BE EFFECTED BY THE HIGH TEMP DURING THE FLIGHT. IT WAS NOTED THAT THE DAY OF THE FLIGHT THE OUTSIDE TEMP WAS OVER 110 DEGREES.

MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL CHECKED THE ENGINE AND COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY ANOMALIES. IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY THE OIL COOLER AND OIL TEMP REGULATOR WERE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS TEST RUN AND NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE AND HAS BEEN OPERATING NORMALLY SINCE THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
