## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

08/01/2020 APPROXIMATELY 12:00AM , N60934 DEPARTED RWY 16 WITH A 90-DEGREE 15-20 KNOT CROSSWIND. AT ROTATION, THE AIRCRAFT WEATHERVANED AND CONTINUED THE TAKEOFF, STRIKING THE GROUND W/ RIGHT LANDING GEAR. PILOT DID A LOW PASS DOWN THE RUNWAY WITH A GROUND OBSERVER, WHO SAID THE GEAR LOOKED OKAY. UPON LANDING, THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AT TOUCHDOWN, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT?S RIGHT WING AND PROPELLER TO IMPACT THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SLID DOWN THE RUNWAY ON THE GROUND UNTIL IT SLID OFF THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE DIRT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY WHERE IT CAME TO REST ON IT'S RIGHT WING AND TAIL WHEEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20CA275](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20CA275), Aug 1, 2020: Cessna A185 (N60934), Susanville, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during takeoff with a tailwind, which resulted in a subsequent collapse of the right main landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
