## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N9765C(PA-28-200) PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 17 AFTER BACK TAXIING TO UTILIZE THE FULL LENGTH AT SEILING AIRPORT(1S4) ON AUGUST 1, 2020 WITH 3 PASSENGERS ON BOARD. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. THE PILOT DID NOT GET THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED IN THE REMAINING AMOUNT OF RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WENT INTO THE GRASS, DOWN A DITCH, OVER A ROAD, THROUGH ANOTHER DITCH AND IMPACTED TREES SOUTH OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 160 FEET SOUTH OF THE END OF THE RUNWAY IN THE TREES ON A 120 HEADING. THE LEFT WING OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS TORN FROM THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE IMPACT WITH A TREE, THE LEFT GEAR BROKE AWAY FROM THE LEFT WING AND THE OTHER TWO GEAR COLLAPSED. THE LEFT FUEL TANK WAS RUPTURED FROM THE IMPACT WITH A TREE AND ALL FUEL IN THAT TANK DRAINED ON TO THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA321](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA321), Aug 1, 2020: Piper PA28R (N9765C), Seiling, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s incorrect takeoff performance calculations and delayed aborted takeoff, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
