## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 18, 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 1010 LOCAL, THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER JUST LANDED ON THE RUNWAY AND COME TO A FULL STOP. THE PILOT THEN ATTEMPTED A TAKEOFF FROM A 2,000 FOOT RUNWAY WITH ONLY ABOUT 1,000 FEET REMAINING. DURING TAKEOFF ROLL AND NEAR THE END OF THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT FELT THE WIND SUDDENLY SHIFT FROM THE LEFT REAR. HE ATTEMPTED TO GET THE AIRPLANE AIRBORNE BEFORE THE RUNWAY ENDED BUT WAS

UNSUCCESSFUL. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRPLANE AND IT CONTINUED OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO A FENCE. THE AIRPLANE NOSED OVER INTO A FIELD AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE AND EMPENNAGE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE AIRPLANE AND THAT HE SHOULD HAVE UTILIZED THE ENTIRE RUNWAY FOR THE TAKEOFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20CA350](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20CA350), Aug 18, 2020: Cessna 140 (N2207N), Olustee, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to attempt a takeoff from the middle of the runway in shifting wind conditions, which resulted in an aborted takeoff and runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
