## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO LAX THE LEFT MAIN GEAR DID NOT EXTEND WHEN THE GEAR HANDLE WAS PLACED DOWN. THE CREW DISCONTINUED THE APPROACH AND RAN APPROPRIATE QRH CHECKLISTS. THEY COORDINATED WITH APPROACH AND THE TOWER FOR A LOW APPROACH TO SEE IF THE TOWER COULD ASCERTAIN IF THE GEAR WAS ACTUALLY DOWN OR NOT. TOWER PERSONNEL WERE UNSURE OF THE CONDITION SO A SECOND APPROACH WAS COORDINATED. WHEN THE TOWER INFORMED THE CREW THAT IT APPEARED THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN, THE CREW CHOSE TO LAND ON THE LONGEST AVAILABLE RUNWAY. THEY LANDED ON 25R AND CAME TO A STOP WITH THE NOSE AND RIGHT MAIN GEAR AND THE LEFT ENGINE ON THE RUNWAY.

IN THE PROCESS OF SHUTTING DOWN THE AIRCRAFT THE CREW NOTED FIRE INDICATIONS ON THE LEFT ENGINE. THEY EXECUTED THE EVACUATION CHECKLIST TO SHUT DOWN BOTH ENGINES AND DECIDED TO EVACUATE THE AIRCRAFT THROUGH THE RIGHT SIDE WINDOW IN CASE THERE WAS A FIRE ON THE RIGHT SIDE. DURING THE EVACUATION THE FO INJURED HIS FOOT AND THE ARFF CREW ADVISED THE CA TO WAIT FOR A SET OF STAIRS THAT THEY WERE POSITIONING. HE THEN EVACUATED VIA THOSE STAIRS.
