## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 28, 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 PDT, THE LAS VEGAS FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A PART 91 AIRPLANE CRASH INVOLVING A 1967 CESSNA TU206B AIRPLANE, REGISTRATION NUMBER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REGISTERED TO AWSM INC AT PO BOX 3379, GRAND CANYON, AZ AND WAS BEING LEASED AND OPERATED BY PARAGON SKYDIVE. PARAGON SKYDIVE OPERATED OUT OF THE GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK AIRPORT (GCN). THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED ON A HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE FROM TUSAYAN, AZ NEAR GCN. THERE WERE NO REPORTED PASSENGERS ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT.

THE INITIAL INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE AIRPLANE HAD DROPPED OFF A LOAD OF SKYDIVERS AND WAS RETURNING TO LAND AT GCN WHEN IT REPORTED A LOSS OF POWER. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE TOP OF A STREET LIGHT POLE WITH THE RIGHT WING BETWEEN THE AILERON AND FLAP. THE AIRCRAFT INVERTED AND SLID APPROXIMATELY 150 FT. ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE PILOT WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ WITH MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA291](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA291), Aug 28, 2020: Cessna TU206 (N3422L), Tusayan, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of contamination in the airplane’s fuel system.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
