## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS WAS A REPOSITION FLIGHT.

THE PILOT ENTERED RUNAWAY 28 FOR DEPARTURE, ADVANCED THE THROTTLES AND APPROXIMATELY 1/3 DOWN THE RUNWAY THE AIRCRAFT VEERED RIGHT LEAVING THE PAVEMENT ONTO THE GRASS.

AS THE PILOT TRIED TO CORRECT THE DIRECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO THE PAVEMENT, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK PART OF THE VASI SYSTEM, THE NOSE GEAR SNAPPED OFF AND BOTH MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED.

THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN THE GRASS ON THE COLLAPSED MAIN GEAR APPROXIMATELY 1900 FEET FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 28.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA372](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA372), Aug 30, 2020: Cessna 414 (N698D), Ray, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control on takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
