## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING THE ACCIDENT SEQUENCE. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES DURING THE ACCIDENT SEQUENCE AND WERE TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL BY A NEARBY HOMEOWNER. LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE PILOT REPORTEDLY STATED TO HOSPITAL PERSONNEL THAT HE HAD "RUN OUT OF GAS". WHEN HOSPITAL PERSONNEL REALIZED THAT THERE HAD BEEN AN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT THEY CALLED THE SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT. THE RESPONDING DEPUTY REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT OCCUPANTS WERE UNCOOPERATIVE AND THAT CONSEQUENTLY HE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME LOCATING THE ACCIDENT SITE AND DID NOT LOCATE THE SITE UNTIL LATE IN THE EVENING

THE ACCIDENT FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT VALPARAISO, INDIANA WITH NO KNOWN STOPS BETWEEN THE POINT OF ORIGIN AND THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 370 NAUTICAL MILES.

ACCORDING TO THE FAA AIRMAN DATABASE, THE PILOT HOLDS A BASIC MEDICAL CERTIFICATE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA385](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA385), Sep 5, 2020: Piper PA28-140 (N2875T), Red Oak, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper fuel management, which resulted in fuel exhaustion and a loss of engine power.

## Other reports on N2875T (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19840406019949I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840406019949I), Apr 6, 1984: Piper PA28140 (N2875T), Markesan, WI, Minor damage. Hit a downdraft on final approach. Landed short of runway. Nose gear and both main gear severed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
