## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRITIVE:

SCHWEIZER G-164B AGCAT. P&W R-985 (450 HP). ENGINE FAILED TO MAINTAIN SUFFICIENT POWER SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF AND LANDED IN A CORNFIELD WITH MATURE CROPS CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER TO THE INVERTED POSITION AFTER A SHORT ROLL OUT. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY AND STATED THE ENGINE DID NOT QUIT COMPLETELY BUT HAD INSUFFICIENT POWER TO REMAIN ALOFT. THE AIRCRAFT WILL REMAIN IN THE CORN FIELD UNTIL CROPS ARE HARVESTED. NO BIO-HAZARD EXISTS AS THE AIRCRAFT PAYLOAD WAS RYE SEED. AIRCRAFT REMOVAL WAS AUTHORIZED FROM THE CORN FIELD TO OWNER?S HANGAR (LESS THAN A MILE) SO A MORE DETAILED INSPECTION MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED. AIRCRAFT IS NOT RELEASED AT THIS TIME PENDING FURTHER INSPECTION. ?END-

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
