## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNING TO HUNTSVILLE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KUTS) AFTER A 40 MINUTE FLIGHT BASIC FLIGHT REVIEW. AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT UNDER EXAM/AIRCRAFT OWNER WAS AT THE CONTROLS. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TOWARDS THE RUNWAY AS THE CREW COMPLETED THE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES TO RE-ESTABLISH POWER. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPEED TO MAKE IT TO THE AIRPORT SO THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT TOOK THE CONTROLS AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN A FIELD APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE SOUTH OF RUNWAY 36.

- [Incident 19940917037179I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19940917037179I), Sep 17, 1994: Piper PA28140 (N433FL), Baytown, TX. Partial power lost. Landed on road. Taxied to Baytown. NR4 cylinder failed due melting of metal at exhaust port.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
