## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N4019V A CESSNA 170 LOST CONTROL DURING LANDING AT SAN GERONIMO (8T8) AIRPARK. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT INJURED. HE STATED THAT HE WAS ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT AND WAS MAKING THE FIRST LANDING OF THE DAY TO RUNWAY 35. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AND COLLIDED WITH THE EASTERN SIDE PERIMETER FENCE AND CAME TO REST FACING THE SOUTH. THE PILOT STATED THAT A GUST OF WIND MOVED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE EMPENNAGE/REAR FUSELAGE SECTION AS IT COLLIDED WITH THE AIRPORT FENCE AND BRUSH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20LA415](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20LA415), Sep 20, 2020: Cessna 170 (N4019V), San Antonio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate compensation for gusting crosswind conditions while landing, which resulted a loss of lateral control and impact with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
