## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT DURING LANDING IN GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF RUNWAY AND HE THOUGHT THE AIRCRAFT WAS SINKING INTO THE GROUND. THE PILOT DID NOT REDUCE POWER BUT HEADED TOWARDS THE TAXI RAMP AND HIT SOMETHING. HE THOUGHT IT WAS A HOLE BUT DISCOVERED HE HAD HIT A TAXI WAY SIGN WITH THE LEFT OUTBOARD WING TIP CAUSING THE WING TO BE DEFLECTED REARWARDS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA322](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA322), Sep 26, 2020: Piper PA32-300 (N4132W), Silver Springs, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during a nighttime landing with a crosswind, which resulted in a runway excursion and impact with a sign.

## Other reports on N4132W (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19920708029629I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920708029629I), Jul 8, 1992: Piper PA32300 (N4132W), Lovelock, NV. Smoke in cabin. Electrical system secured. Continued to destination. Found exhaust manifold had broken.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
