## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT (-9): CENTRAL, SC: N4388E, AERONCA, EXPERIENCED INSUFFICIENT ENGINE POWER AND PERFORMED A LANDING AT 1019 BISHOPS BRANCH ROAD. AIRCRAFT'S TAIL STRUCK A MAILBOX DURING THE LANDING. POB: 2, INJURIES: NONE, DAMAGE: EXTENT UNKNOWN. 09/26/2020 2140Z

PILOT STATEMENT: ON SEPTEMBER 26 AT APPROXIMATELY 18:00, MY AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTED HAVING A PARTIAL LOSS OF POWER. I WAS TOO FAR FROM AN AIRPORT FOR A SAFE RETURN. I CIRCLED A REMOTE ROAD TWICE PLANNING ON HOW I WOULD ACCOMPLISH AN OFF FIELD LANDING WITH PARTIAL POWER. I EXECUTED A SAFE LANDING ON BISHOPS BRANCH ROAD, CENTRAL, S.C. 29630. ON ROLLOUT, THE LEFT FORWARD STRUT CAME IN TO CONTACT WITH A MAILBOX THAT DENTED THE STRUT AND LEFT A SLIGHT DENT IN THE WRAP AROUND COWLING. I THEN TAXIIED UP THE DRIVEWAY AND PARKED IN THE GRASS TO TIE DOWN THE AIRCRAFT. I RETURNED THE NEXT DAY AND DISASSEMBLED THE AIRCRAFT AND RETURNED IT TO ITS HANGAR AT SC86.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
