## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTS LOSS OF POWER THAT OCCURRED WHEN AUTOPILOT WAS DISCONNECTED IN PREPARATION FOR DESCENT INTO MYR DESTINATION AIRPORT. PILOT STATES THAT AIRCRAFT "WENT TO IDLE" AND HE WAS UNABLE TO REACQUIRE POWER. PILOT DID NOT ACTIVATE ENGINE DRIVEN FUEL PUMP. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO EXECUTE AN OFF FIELD LANDING AND CRASHED ADJACENT TO A AGRICULTURAL FIELD IN A WOODED AREA.

AS OF 11-05-2020 NO MECHANICAL CAUSE OF POWER LOSS HAS BEEN DETERMINED

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA002](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA002), Oct 2, 2020: Beech BE-36 (N656V), Green Sea, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadvertent placement of the fuel selector in an intermediate position, which starved the engine of fuel and resulted in a total loss of engine power.

## Other reports on N656V (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19840906062319I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840906062319I), Sep 6, 1984: Beech 35BEECH (N656V), Hutchinson, KS, Minor damage. Bounced and porpoised while landing in a strong gusty wind. Expired medical certificate.
- [Incident 19830318024269I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830318024269I), Mar 18, 1983: Beech M35 (N656V), Birmingham, AL, Minor damage. Pilot claimed 3 greens for landing. Gear partially collapsed on landing. No gear defects indicates gear in transit.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
