## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF THIS LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT WAS ATTEMPTING TO PERFORM A SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF WITH A LEFT CROSSWIND OF APPROXIMATELY 8KTS (MAXIMUM CROSSWIND LIMITATION OF 10KTS FOR THIS AIRCRAFT) AS A PART OF A PRACTICAL TEST FOR A SPORT PILOT CERTIFICATE. THE PILOT FAILED TO MAKE THE IMMEDIATE CONTROL INPUTS (LEFT RUDDER AND/OR LEFT WING DOWN) TO COMPENSATE FOR THE DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AS THE MAIN LANDING GEAR CAME OFF THE GROUND ON TAKEOFF. THE SLOWER FORWARD SPEED OF THE SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF PROFILE RESULTED IN INSUFFICIENT LIFT - THE AIRCRAFT LOST THE SMALL AMOUNT OF ALTITUDE ACQUIRED AND THE NOSE & RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR CONTACTED THE RUNWAY (IN A DRIFT TO THE RIGHT) WITH THE RIGHT WINGTIP CONTACTING THE GROUND IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP ON THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
