## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT DURING A SIMULATED SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF IN WHICH THE STUDENT PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ON THE CONTROLS, THE STUDENT PILOT ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLY OUT OF GROUND EFFECT BEFORE ATTAINING THE PROPER CLIMB OUT SPEED BY APPLYING TOO MUCH BACK PRESSURE ON THE ELEVATOR CONTROL. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TRIED TO TAKE THE CONTROLS FROM THE STUDENT BY PROPERLY ANNOUNCING TWICE "MY FLIGHT CONTROLS" BUT THE STUDENT PILOT DID NOT RELINQUISH THE CONTROLS BACK TO THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TRIED TO OVER POWER THE STUDENT PILOT BUT NOT BEFORE THE WINGTIP HIT THE GROUND CAUSING THE SWERVE OFF OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS. THE STUDENT PILOT HAD BEEN HANDED OFF FROM ANOTHER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR THAT HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE THAT THE STUDENT PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^HAD A TENDENCY TO LOCK UP ON THE CONTROLS FROM PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHTS. THIS VITAL INFORMATION WAS NOT GIVEN TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ UNTIL AFTER THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
