## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING THE GREENE COUNTY AIRPORT (I19) AT DUSK. AS THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED AND HAD JUST LEFT THE RUNWAY, A 4 POINT BUCK DEER STRUCK THE FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE DEER STRUCK THE PROP AND ONE PROP BLADE OF THE 3 BLADE PROP WAS BROKEN OFF AT THE HUB. THE AIRCRAFT STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY, THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY THROTTLED BACK, LANDED BACK ON THE RUNWAY AND SHUT OFF POWER TO THE ENGINE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF AT THE LAST TAXIWAY AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES. THE BOTTOM ENGINE COWLING WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED AND A SMALL DENT WAS IN THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE ROOT'S TKS DEICING SYSTEM FROM ONE OF THE DEER'S HOOFS.

SUBSEQUENT INSPECTIONS SHOWED THAT ONE ENGINE MOUNT WAS BROKEN OFF OF THE ENGINE CASE AND NUMEROUS OTHER ANCILLARY ENGINE EQUIPMENT WAS EITHER CRACKED OR BROKEN. THE ENGINE WAS SENT TO CONTINENTAL FOR REPAIR AND THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE MOUNT WAS CHANGED AS A PRECAUTION.

THE WING WAS INSPECTED AND REPAIRED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CIRRUS ENGINEERING INSTRUCTIONS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA041](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA041), Oct 22, 2020: Cirrus SR22 (N513JP), Xenia, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The airplane’s impact with a deer during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
