## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 08, 2020, N77759, A TEMCO SWIFT GC-1B, WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 23 AT WAUKEGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT (KUGN) ENROUTE TO ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN. DURING THE TAKE OFF ROLL AT APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET, THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) NOTICED THE TAIL WHEEL OF THE CONVENTIONAL GEARED AIRCRAFT PREMATURELY LIFT FROM THE RUNWAY CREATING A LEFT TURNING TENDENCY AND THE AIRCRAFT ALSO BEGAN TO WEATHER VANE INTO THE SOUTHERLY WIND. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS BEFORE EXPERIENCING A GROUND LOOP. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST 200 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY, WITH A COLLAPSED RIGHT MAIN GEAR. BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE UNHARMED. NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY AND STRUCTURES WERE NOTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN21LA058](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN21LA058), Nov 8, 2020: Temco GC-1B (N77759), Waukegan, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during takeoff with a crosswind that resulted in a ground loop and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
