## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (PILOT IN COMMAND) WAS GIVING DUAL FLIGHT TRAINING TO THE OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT COME DOWN WHILE ON APPROACH TO JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT (SNA). THE PILOT SELECTED THE LANDING GEAR DOWN BUT THERE WAS AN INDICATION IN THE COCKPIT THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN. A FLYBY THE TOWER CONFIRMED THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE PARTIALY DOWN. THE PILOT PERFORMED EMERGENCY CHECKLIST PROCEDURES BUT STILL COULD NOT GET THE GEAR TO COME DOWN. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON ITS BELLY AT SNA RWY 20R AND SKIDDED TO A STOP WITH MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
