## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 4 AT GED BELIEVING THIS WAS THE CORRECT RUNWAY REGARDING WINDS. WINDS WERE ACTUALLY 280 6 KTS GUSTING TO 16 AND RUNWAY 28 WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CORRECT RUNWAY. DUE TO THE GUSTY LEFT AND REAR QUARTERING CROSSWIND THE AIRCRAFT WAS PUSHED TO THE RIGHT AND THE PILOT COULD NOT OVERCOME/CORRECT FOR THE WIND. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AND WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA21LA058](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA21LA058), Nov 28, 2020: Champion 7FC (N7596B), Georgetown, DE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control while on landing in gusting crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
